From our earliest experiences as a child, as well as having it reaffirmed, again and again, in even our childhood stories and nursery rhymes, we humans are not only conditioned to believe that someone is out to get us, but also to impose human emotions and motivations on to anything and everything that might fall in the category of the 'unknown.' Even the animals in our childhood stories are portrayed as threatening and menacing, or at the very least invasive and sneaking, as was the case with Goldilocks and her mysterious visitors.
